“if you feel like you’re putting in too much effort, pause and ask yourself why.” I did this back prior to Thanksgiving 2023. Some dear friends from out of state were coming for Thanksgiving—five extra people. Besides a shared Google sheet, I decided to add individual tasks to the fridge on sticky notes and each person could choose the tasks they wanted —chop 3 onions, mince 5 garlic cloves, arrange flowers…there were lots of choices! We pushed the stools back from the island, put on some music, pulled out all the cutting boards and knives, and all 9 of us got to work. We were done prepping in about an hour and enjoyed working together! Since then, I’ve continued to use sticky note tasks. My kids expect it now—and ask for it—and like knowing exactly how to help. I like the shared work of preparing a special meal. ❤️

OMG I love this idea, Lauren! First of all, I love sticky notes. It sounds like the mood you set for using them was really important for making it feel fun to help, and that stayed even after the party ended. Love this, thank you <3
